Alrighty, I have not done any work on my dissertation in the past 2 weeks. With that in mind, I've decided to get back to work. I've read 2 articles so far today and am about to start on another one. I'm starting to feel like the only way I can really get work done on my dissertation is to shut myself off from the rest of the world. Unfortunately (or fortunately...I can't tell yet), I can't do that because life is happening. People are getting older, family needs you, friends are getting married and celebrating birthdays. Conference proposal submissions are due and life is calling you to put your attention on something else for just a little while....but then a little while turns into 2 weeks and my dissertation is wondering where I went. The stress that I'm feeling is 100% because of my dissertation. I can't move past the feeling that it is holding me back from the rest of my life and I am sooooooooooooooo ready for the rest of my life. But, it is what it is. I gotta get this thing done. So, you pray for me and I'll pray for you and we'll get through this thing together. My goal for this week: I gotta start writing. I'll check back with you soon.
Peace!

Randomly just found your blog through the "we feel fine" website. Just felt like I had to give you a message because I am defending my thesis tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI was in your boat. You will finish it. It will be awesome.
Great seeing you today! I am happy to hear that you are at a point that you can begin writing. I think it always helps you to feel better when you can see something--anything--begin to materialize on paper. I will be on the lookout for that e-mail.
ReplyDeleteKlkasych, thanks for stopping by our blog! I hope you rocked your defense!
Thanks for the encouragement. I hope that you blew your defense out the water. Whether is good or bad, I'm feeling much better after having taken a bit of time off from my dissertation. But now I'm busy back at work on it and hoping to really stay focused and encouraged.
