Online Accountability Partners
Hey Ladies. Recently, a friend mentioned an accountability partner. Basically, she is looking for someone who can call and check on her to see how her research is going and provide words of encourgement. This of course is a great idea but doesn't always work when we get busy with our day to day responsibilities. But I've found that this blog has become my accountability partner. I try to log on at least once a week and very honestly share what progress I am (or am not) making. For example, I've shared recently that I am so tired of school and my dissertation that I can hardly stand myself. Well, I can honestly say that, while I've put more attention on other projects outside of my dissertation for the past few weeks, I am feeling a bit more motivated and focused when it comes to my dissertation. I'm reading articles again and trying hard to write. My plan for this evening is to read a few articles and, tomorrow, I plan to write for at least four hours. Yup....I AM COMMITTING MYSELF TO FOUR HOURS OF WRITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm also hoping to get some work done this weekend but we'll see how that goes. *smile* I'm sorry that I missed you ladies at the WRC today but I'll try again in a few weeks. Lets try our hardest to long on at least once a week and be our online accountability partners. Lets encourage each other and give each other virtually kicks in the pants when we need it. I'll keep you posted and let you know how that four hours of writing goes. Peace!

Ok, here is my update. I didn't read 2 articles like I planned to last night. I got home late and just got half way through one article. But, I did do a significant amount of writing today. I stuck with my four hour committment and you know what....it was great. I found a rhythm and really got a lot done. And I actually enjoyed the process. I think that, perhaps, I've been a bit intimidated by my dissertation. When you think about it, its a huge undertaking and, at the onset, seems almost impossible. Me? Write a book? But today, I am just thankful to God that I enjoyed it as much as I did. Now, I'm looking forward to being able to block off that amount of time again so I can write some more.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 4 hours of writing!!! That is so incredibly awesome. You are right, things seem so overwhelming when you view the whole picture, but if you just take it step by step the next thing you know your book is finished. I definitely think we should all be online accountability partners. Tell your other friend to join, too, if he/she wants. I am going to do much better about logging on at least once per week.
